52 Weeks of Gratitude is a year-long (haha just kidding, it’s like taking me two years) blog prompt that aims to bring the writer a deeper sense of Gratitude. You can see the list of prompts back on Week #1’s post! (And I usually link up with Ember Grey’s Monday Grateful Hearts series, so be sure to check that out!!
#18: The Weather
It’s October and FINALLY feeling like fall. I usually cherish those last days of unseasonably warm weather. But this year, it was a little hard to be grateful for those extra days. Jack had left to go hunting out West for two weeks, turned on the wood stove (and turned off the AC) and it was INSANELY hot in the house. Plus, I had to put wood in the stove to get hot water – so, its not like I could just stop using the stove. And he tried to tell me how to switch to the hot water heater and how to turn the AC back on, but as soon as I heard the words “crawl space” I was pretty much like “It’s okay, I’ll sweat it out”. Katy + HUGE SPIDERS/SNAKES = No go.
So, while I was a little annoyed with the weather for a bit, I love this time of year! And so does Rebel:
But really, what I’m most grateful for is that I can get Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer every year where I live. I love each one for different reasons – yes – even Winter. Playing in the snow is cool at least twice a year (I have my limits!). I’m happy to live in a place where there are no huge weather ‘threats’. We very rarely will get a tornado in the area and every once in a while a Hurricane will make its way inland. But other than, its relatively calm and wonderful. But speaking of tornadoes, I would love to take a tornado chasing vacation one year! I’m pretty awe-struck by major storms and their power, so chasing tornadoes would be amazing.
What’s the weather like where you live? And why are you grateful for it?
