I’m not one to do ‘resolutions’. But everyone has been throwing around their word of the year, and after thinking about it – I decided I could use a Word of the Year! One common theme for the year to drive your actions. One word to better your life, soul, and heart. I thought strongly about going with “Simplify” because one of my major goals this year is to organize and purge the rest of my house (sorry, Mr. Coffee – its happening). But I wanted something deeper, that would help me better myself as a person too, so I settled on:
1. the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc.
2. an intended or desired result; end; aim; goal.
1. to set as an aim, intention, or goal for oneself.
2. to intend, design.
I want to strive for everything in my life to have a purpose. That desk in the office? What is it’s purpose? Currently, it is covered with all sorts of ‘crap’ which needs to be organized. That desk ISN’T serving its purpose. What about the clothes in tote boxes that are old/ don’t fit/ not my style? Those clothes are serving me no purpose. Donate/ Yard Sale/ Get rid of them. What about goals at work? What purpose are they serving?
I purposefully (hehehe) chose the Grand Canyon as the background of my Word of the Year photo. Why? Maybe 70 million years ago, the Colorado River flowing across the land probably wouldn’t have seemed to be a huge deal – but over its years, it has created the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in my life. This will remind me that every small step I take that has a PURPOSE will lead to an over all sense of calm and beauty in my life.
So, there you have it! What’s your Word of the Year for 2016??
