What do I tell you about this little West Virginian town that I live in? My favorite thing to think about when I reflect back on the journey that led me here is this: Less than two years ago, I had no idea how to even get to this town. On June 28, 2014, I was meeting friends to go to a concert in this randomly placed concert venue just outside of town. Since it was only 30 minutes from my house, Heather asked me “Where can we meet?”. And I had to GOOGLE MAP the exit and find a place to meet (Waffle House! Which I’ve refrained from eating at so far – I know I won’t be able to stop!). I had no clue this place existed. HA!
Flash forward to September of 2014 and I met the man who would end up being my other half, who lived in this town. Literally two minutes from the Waffle House, the guy I’d been looking for my entire life was waiting. His business sits along the interstate. I’d driven by him sooooo many times!!!
I have so much gratitude for where I live, I’m not sure I can put it into words. This town – its really nothing special – we don’t even have a Walmart (yet – ugh). But this town is where we will raise our children. This town is where we have begun to build the rest of our lives. It has everything that we need (including some concerts during the summer, hahaha). I cannot wait to see where our lives take us, but I know it will not be far from here. And I will look back on the Summer of 2014. That summer that I discovered this town. And then discovered that guy hiding away from me (hehehe) on its outskirts. And how I quickly knew that this town and this man would be my home.
