Catching you up on my always crazy life…
Reading: In the midst of everything, my hour long lunches at my new job have allowed me to readdddddddd 🙂 Its awesome. Finished both “The Ocean at the End of the Lake” and “Since You’ve Been Gone“. Gaiman’s End of the Lake was good, and I know a lot of people who love his works, but it didn’t pull me in like I’d hoped. I’ll keep trying with his novels though, no worries. Knight’s “Since You’ve Been Gone” was a total romance novel – with the unlikely suitor who sweeps the protagonist off her feet. But it was good and you find yourself rooting for Holly to overcome her fears. I’ll let you find out if she does. Definitely a recommended read!
Next I read “What Alice Forgot“. About a woman who’s lost ten years of memory after a fall at the gym, there are so many twists and turns in this novel. It definitely keeps you on your feet and the ending is a good one. One that may surprise you. Really makes you think about where you were ten years ago… and what would happen if you suddenly lost every memory between now and then. Would you know the person you lived with? Would your parents be the same? Would you have the same friends?
And thennnn….. “The Beautiful Daughters“. This one was a not as provoking as Alice, but it was a good read and leads you down a winding path wondering where these two college besties will end up. Both running from a past incident, they have to come back together to break down the walls that running from that incident brought up between them and everyone around them.
And. Finally. Cinder. Literally just finished this ten minutes ago. My bestie, Sadye, told me I’ve love it and I SO DID. Its a retelling of the Cinderella story. Set in the future, after World War IV, in a world full of hover crafts, net screens, and cyborgs – it pulls you in from the start. Not only are you drawn to Cinder (mostly because you already hate her evil Step-mother and sister), but you find yourself wondering how the Meyer is going to pull the main aspects of the fairytale into this futuristic world. I’ve already read the first two pages of the second book in the Lunar Chronicles series and I had to pull myself away to stop neglecting my poor blog 😉
Thinking About: Mr. Coffee’s birthday is coming up (our first together!), so definitely excited to give him his gifts and to spend the weekend in Deep Creek Lake with friends! Should be an awesome time! Operation Spoil the BF: in full effect. Also thinking about the future and how excited I am to see our story unfold but how grateful I am to spend the minutes and hours living them together.
Listening: To a lot of country music. We listen to a local country station all day at work. Good thing I’m not the only one who sings and whistles along to the radio. People around our office probably think we’re psycho. I like it that way.
Watching: INK MASTER. Why? If you’ve ever noticed the flower tattoo on my left arm, you’ll be happy to know that Dave Kruseman is the artist. That’s right, a local (and amazing) tattoo artist is on a NATIONAL TELEVISION SHOW! Not only is Dave an amazingly talented artist, I have the privilege of knowing that just how great of a PERSON he is… so yea, you know who I’m rooting for! Along with his apprentice, Duffy (the best girl on the show and also – the only one who doesn’t annoy the heck out of me!!!). Dave and his lovely wife, Kim, own Olde Line Tattoo in Hagerstown, MD. If you’re ever in town and wanting some ink, you should most definitely check them out!!
And I’ve been binge watching Parenthood. Oh my… .the emotional roller coaster that is this show. I’m constantly crying – from happiness, sadness, etc. What a show. I will forever be enthralled with Lauren Graham and everything she does – Gilmore Girls For Life.
Planning: As always, I have a ton of projects in the works and am planning my post for tomorrow and also a 52 Weeks of Gratitude series 🙂 Much needed. At my job, we have devotion at every 9 am managers meeting, and its reminding me to just… be thankful.
Loving: My job. My man. My dog. My life.
